About The Event

In this intimate conversation, acclaimed artist Anoma Wijewardene and public historian Radhika Hettiarachchi delve into the intersections of art, memory, and the drive for unity. Set against the backdrop of Anoma’s extensive body of work—spanning three decades of multimedia exhibitions and global recognition—the discussion will explore how Anoma uses her art as a platform for addressing critical social, political, and environmental challenges that threaten the unity of life on Earth. From climate crises to issues of peace, reconciliation, and diversity, her pieces are imbued with a deep concern for humanity’s existential struggles.

Anoma’s collaborative work with poets, scientists, and activists adds another layer of complexity to her art, making it a catalyst for dialogue on topics that shape our world. Together, Anoma and Radhika will reflect on Anoma’s film retrospective presented at the London School of Economics in 2023, as well as her commitment to exploring South Asia’s pressing concerns…
